Responsibilities

Gruia Badescu ist Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter des Projekts „Die Erinnerung in der Stadt rekonstruieren“, geleitet von Jan und Aleida Assmann an der Universität Konstanz. Er ist Stipendiat der Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung (2019-2021). Seine Forschungs- und Berufspraxis konzentriert sich auf die Beziehung zwischen urbanen Rekonfigurationen und politischen Übergängen in Nachkriegs und Nachdiktatoriale Kontexte im Cono Sur, Osteuropa und dem Nahen Osten. Er hat einen Master-Abschluss in Stadtdesign und Sozialwissenschaften der LSE (Vereinigtes Königreich) sowie einen Doktortitel in Architektur der University of Cambridge. In seiner Dissertation untersuchte er die Zusammenhänge zwischen Architekturrekonstruktionen nach Konflikten und dem Prozess der Vergangenheitsbewältigung im ehemaligen Jugoslawien. Zwischen 2015 und 2018 war er Dozent und Forscher an der Universität von Oxford, auch ein Mitglied des Forschungsprojekt AHRC (UK) - Labex (Frankreich) „Die Kriminalisierung der diktatorielle Vergangenheit in Europa und Lateinamerika in Global Perspective“ genannt. Seine laufenden Forschungsarbeiten konzentrieren sich auf Prozesse des Gedenkens und der Museifizierung von Orten, die für politische Gewalt während diktatorischen Regimen in Lateinamerika und Osteuropa genutzt werden. Gruia ist ein der Leitern der Forschungsgruppe „Orte der Amnesie“ (Places of Amnesia) und die Arbeitsgruppe „Erinnerung und Menschenrechte“ der Memory Studies Association. Von seinem neueren Artikeln: „Entangled Islands of Memory: Actors and Circulations of Site Memorialisation Practice Between the Latin American Southern Cone and Central and Eastern Europe“

Responsibilities

Hannah Beck studierte an der Universität Konstanz Hispanistik, Germanistik und Geschichte (1. Staatsexamen) und legte bereits im Grundstudium den Schwerpunkt auf lateinamerikanische Literatur. In ihrer Abschlussarbeit verband sie zwei Interessensschwerpunkte, die ihr Studium geprägt haben: die Frühe Neuzeit als Epoche gesellschaftspolitischen Wandels und die Darstellung Lateinamerikas in der Literatur (Titel: Die Debatte zwischen Bartolomé de las Casas und Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda über den Umgang mit der Neuen Welt. Ein europäischer Diskurs über das Fremde.) Im Rahmen ihrer Dissertation untersucht sie die Zusammenhänge zwischen der Entwicklung des kolonialen Narrativs um „El Dorado“ und Veränderungen europäischer Kapital- und Kreditmärkte im frühen 16. Jahrhundert.  Die Dissertation ist Teil des Forschungsprojekts „Konstanzer Kolonialgeschichte“ (Prof. Dr. Kirsten Mahlke) und wird mit einem Stipendium der Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft gefördert.

Bruno Jara Ahumada es escritor y estudiante del Doctorado en Literaturwissenschaft (2021-), bajo la supervisión de la Dr. Kirsten Mahlke. Es “Licenciado en Diseño” por la Universidad de Chile y Máster en “Arte, pensamiento y culturas Latinoamericano” por la Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Sus primeras investigaciones se interesan en los conflictos de memoria presentes en la cultura visual y el arte latinoamericano. Más adelante, se concentra en la noción de paisaje, indagando en la colonialdad de los imaginarios que dominan la representación del espacio latinoamericano. Actualmente, investiga los discursos descoloniales y las tensiones estéticas que se manifiestan en el paisaje, en la narrativa contemporánea del Cono Sur.

Sarah Roos' Interesse für Lateinamerika wurde während ihres Studiums (Romanistik und Deutsch als Fremdsprache) an der Universität Konstanz durch mehrere Reisen und Praktika in Mittelamerika und der Karibik geweckt. In ihrem auf Chile fokussierten Dissertationsprojekt beschäftigt sie sich mit dem im Entstehen begriffenen (auto-) biografischen Subgenre der Filiationsliteratur. Hierfür setzt sie sich vor allem mit der Vergangenheitspolitik und der Erinnerungskultur der (Post-) Diktaturen im Cono Sur auseinander und hat in diesem Rahmen mehrere Forschungsaufenthalte am Instituto de Estudios Avanzados (IDEA) in Santiago de Chile absolviert. Hier richtete sie 2019 gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Anne Kraume und den chilenischen Partnern des IDEA einen vom BMBF geförderten wissenschaftlichen Workshop zu „Zeugenschaft und Erinnerungskultur“ aus. Weitere Forschungsinteressen bilden (urbane) Raumtheorien in Literatur und Film sowie die kulturelle Praxis des Reggaetón als zeitgenössischer lateinamerikanischer Musik- und Tanzstil.

Tim Wegenast ist in São Paolo/Brasilien geboren und lebte dort 17 Jahre lang. Bereits früh interessierte er sich für die Frage, inwieweit Landwirtschaft und der Abbau natürlicher Ressourcen Gesellschaften prägen. Im Hinblick darauf untersuchte er in seiner Promotion im Fach Politikwissenschaft an der Universität Pompeu Fabra (Spanien) die Folgen unterschiedlicher Agrarstrukturen auf die Bereitstellung öffentlicher Güter in Lateinamerika hin. Aktuell liegt ein zentraler Forschungsschwerpunkt an der Universität Konstanz auf den Auswirkungen von Ressourcenmanagement auf soziale Konflikte und der lokalen Entwicklung in lateinamerikanischen und afrikanischen Staaten. Zudem schreibt er regelmäßig für unterschiedliche Medien Gastbeiträge zu aktuellen politischen, sozio-ökonomischen und ökologischen Geschehnissen rund um Brasilien.

Valeria Vegh Weis is a native Spanish speaker with an Argentinean and a German citizenship. She holds a Ph.D. in Law, a Master’s Degree in Criminal Law, and a Teaching Post-Graduate Degree from the University of Buenos Aires, and an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law, where she was awarded the prestigious Fulbright, Global Hauser and Transitional Justice Scholarships.

She is an Alexander von Humboldt Post-Doctoral Researcher at Freie Universität Berlin, where she focuses on the role of human rights and victims’ organizations in the enforcement of transitional justice. She is also an Associate Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Germany where she co-directs the research group on Transnational Criminal Law in Transatlantic Perspective (1870¬-1945). She is an Adjunct Professor at Buenos Aires University Law School and UNQuI. She has fifteen years of experience working in criminal courts and international organizations.

She has published extensively in the topics of criminology, transitional justice and criminal law. Her book Marxism and Criminology: A History of Criminal Selectivity (BRILL 2017, Haymarket Books 2018) was awarded the Choice Award by the American Library Association and the Outstanding Book Award by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. She has also published Bienvenidos al Lawfare with Raúl Zaffaroni and Cristina Caamaño (Capital Intelectual 2020) and Criminalization of Activism (Routledge 2021)

Ingrid Espinoza is a Spanish native speaker with a Nicaraguan and German citizenship. She is also a researcher at the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" and a PhD candidate at the chair of Public Administration and Organization Theory at the University of Konstanz. She works within the interdisciplinary cluster-research project „Inequality in Street-Level Bureaucracy: Linguistic Analysis of Public Service Encounters“. In her PhD Project, she explores power dynamics in public service encounters with a focus on ethnic discrimination and racial inequality.

Ingrid holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology as well as a master’s degree in Empirical Political and Social Research, both of which she gained at the University of Stuttgart. During her master studies she completed an internship at the trade union confederation “Unión Nacional de Trabajadores” in Mexico City, where she worked for the department of gender equality on an analysis of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the Unites Nations Agenda 2030. Before starting her PhD, she worked as a research assistant at different chairs and research projects at the University of Stuttgart and as a scientific consultant for the department of integration at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration Baden-Württemberg.

I am a media artist, I hold a Ph.D. in Cultural and Literary Studies and Spanish Literature from the University of Konstanz, Germany, Master in Visual Arts from the University of Chile, Bachelor in Visual Arts from the University of Chile.

I’m an artist and researcher. My interest has been to explore different realities, socio-political and cultural contexts from a committed position. My interest aims to tell the stories of those who have been erased or made invisible in official narratives. This has led me to produce mixed works in which I combine art, research, collective didactics, and social work with visual, performance, and sound languages. The topics that I have investigated have been the violence produced by oppressive states, migration, the capitalist system, war conflicts, and the colonial past-present.
My research has been on human rights violations during the Chilean military dictatorship. On this subject, I have done research and artwork on former political prisoners, relatives of disappeared detainees in Chile, and on the clandestine groups of resistance to the dictatorial regime. I have researched and produced different kinds of artworks about, the conflict between Russia and Georgia over South Ossetia through the stories of refugees left by the war, the difficult living conditions of migrant workers in Singapore, the unknown and denied colonial violence in Germany, and the patriarchal violence against women in Germany. All these experiences have allowed me to learn about different forms of oppression such as racism, gender violence, and inequalities.

Dr. Leila Gómez is a Professor in the Department of Women and Gender Studies at CU Boulder. Her research interests include travel writing and Latin American and Indigenous literature, film and culture in the 19th and 20th centuries, with emphasis on the Andes, Mexico, Paraguay and Argentina. She is the Director of the Latin American Studies Center at CU Boulder  which offers online courses of Quechua, to which interested students at Konstanz University can participate.

Las repercusiones del golpe de estado que en 1973 quebró el pacto democrático en Chile siguen vigentes hasta hoy. Hijos/as y nietos/as de víctimas, que vivieron o no la dictadura durante sus infancias, han continuado con la transmisión de la experiencia testimonial, desde una perspectiva que pone acentos en lo íntimo. En esta ponencia se sostendrá que la obra de los y las artistas contemporáneos que están en la situación antes descrita puede ser interpretada como testimonio, atendiendo a la narrativa de lo visual.

Carolina Pizarro Cortés es Licenciada en Letras por la Universidad Católica de Chile, Magíster en Literatura por la misma universidad y Doctora en Filosofía por la Universidad de Konstanz, Alemania. Realizó un posdoctorado en el Instituto de Estudios Avanzados de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Hoy se desempeña en esa institución como profesora titular. Ha sido investigadora responsable y coinvestigadora de varios proyectos Fondecyt vinculados al tema de la constitución de imaginarios históricos en la cultura latinoamericana. Entre sus principales publicaciones se cuentan los libros Nuevos cronistas de Indias. Historia y liberación en la narrativa latinoamericana contemporánea (autora, Colección IDEA, 2015), Revisitar la catástrofe: la prisión política en el Chile dictatorial (compiladora, Pehuén editores, 2016) y Nuevas formas del testimonio (compiladora, Colección IDEA – Editorial USACH, 2021). José Santos Herceg es licenciado en filosofía por la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y doctor en filosofía por la Universität Konstanz, Alemania.
